The scam is they they hijack your email and then extort you for money to get control of it. If you have time, just repeatedly call them and say nothing while music plays or order a pizza or just play along with them and pretend like you can't get it to work. It annoys them and keeps them busy dealing with someone with the time to spare rather than actually scamming unwary victims.
